Little Falls

Little Falls Township is home to about 15,000 residents, situated on 2.8 square miles in Passaic County. The township is named for the Passaic River waterfall that formerly spilled downstream from the dam in front of the Beattie Mill.

It is bordered by the communities of Montclair, Wayne, Cedar Grove, Woodland Park, Totowa, North Caldwell, Fairfield and Clifton.

Little Falls has three main sub-divisions: Great Notch in the east, downtown usually referred to as simply Little Falls, and Singac in the west on the border of the Passaic River.

Primarily residential, Little Falls retains the feel of a small town despite its strategic location in the tri-state metropolitan area. New York City is only 15 miles away, and Newark Liberty Airport is just 12 miles away. For many residents, local shopping, schools, and a variety of services are within walking distance. The many residents who commute elsewhere to work are among the best served in the metropolitan area, with frequent rail and bus service, as well as close proximity to key state and interstate highways.

Public school students in kindergarten through eighth grade are educated by the Little Falls Township Public Schools it its three schools. For ninth through twelfth grades, students in public school attend Passaic Valley Regional High School, located in Little Falls, which also serves students from Totowa and Woodland Park.
