Pompton Lakes

The Borough of Pompton Lakes, has a 3.2 square mile footprint in Passaic County, and is located approximately 20 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan.

A quiet residential community, Pompton Lakes is  close to major highways. NJ Transit buses run from downtown to New York City and to nearby transit centers for convenient commuting. As of the 2010 Census, the population was just over 11,000.

As the name implies, Pompton Lakes is a water-oriented community. Pompton Lake borders the eastern edge of the borough with its lush, wooded lakefront properties and parkland, and its 175 acres of water accessible for boating and fishing. Twin Lake on the northwest portion of the Borough, is also bordered by lakefront homes. In addition, there are three rivers running throughout the Borough, all with public access.

The Borough also has four miles of well-maintained hiking trails, a new multi-use greenway path, and a newly redone walkway along the shoreline of Pompton Lake. The southern portion of Ramapo Mountain State Forest lies within the northernmost area of Pompton Lakes, and the park's Cannonball Trail begins in the borough. There are also six municipal parks: Hershfield Park, Stiles Park, Gallo-Pacifico Park, Lakeside Park, Rotary Park, and John Murrin Park.

Pompton Lakes has a charming and convenient downtown that offers a wide variety of dining experiences, as well as rich arts and culture including live theater and many quaint shops.

The Pompton Lakes School District serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grades in the district's four schools. Niche.com recently rated Pompton Lakes Schools with an overall grade of A, and as the 4th safest in the state, with the 10th best teachers out of 383 districts in New Jersey. The public school graduation rate is 95% with an average SAT score of 1190. The school district’s athletic program features 22 male and female varsity sports teams with a winning tradition.
